New Delhi: Parupalli Kashyap on Thursday reached the quarterfinals of the Korea Masters Grand Prix Gold after defeating China’s Zhou Zeqi in the men’s singles competition in Jeju, Korea.
Kashyap, 30, survived a fast-paced three-game thriller to beat Zeqi 21-11 13-21 21-8 in 45 minutes.
2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games gold medallist won the first game comfortably, but failed to wrap up the match losing the second game.
But the experienced Hyderabadi shuttler produced a commanding performance in the decider.
The Indian ace will play local shuttler Jeon Hyeok Jin in the quarters. The sixth seeded Korean defeated Hashiru Shimono of Japan 22-20, 21-16.
