new delhi, India are resting batting mainstay Virat Kohli for the three T20I matches against Sri Lanka this month with an eye on the T20 World Cup on home soil.
Kohli, the world’s top-ranked T20 batsman, enjoyed a prolific run of form to help India complete a 3-0 series whitewash in Australia. Kohli, on Monday, finally let out the source of his aggressive streak, saying that a part of it, is inherited from his family while the rest can be blamed on the tough system he fought through to break into the international scene. “I think it has got to do with the family, my father was a Leo, he could fight. He always believed in himself. I think it comes a bit from the family plus growing up in the Delhi system,” Kohli told Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell in a video blog for Cricket Australia.
India recalled Bhuvneshwar Kumar after the paceman sustained a thumb injury in Australia and missed the T20 series. Left-arm spinner Pawan Negi received his first call-up to the squad who play Sri Lanka in the first T20I in Pune on Feb. 9. Ranchi and Visakhapatnam host the other matches.
Squad: MS Dhoni (captain), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pawan Negi.
