Khaira urges Badal to dismiss Bikram Majithia from the Cabinet

sukhpal-khaira-17-470x3111Chandigarh, Congress urges Mr. Badal CM to dismiss Bikram Majithia from the cabinet, in view of his summoning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigating the drug racket.

Today Speaking with media person at chandigarh during a press conference Congress Spokesperson Mr. Sukhpal Singh Khaira Said that the ED has summoned Bikram Majithia for questioning regarding the sensational Rs. 6,000 crore Jagdish Bhola drug racket, the Chief Minister Mr. Badal must immediately dismiss him from the cabinet, to allow a free and impartial probe into a serious matter like drug trafficking wrecking the lives of youth.

As we are aware, the Chief Minister, his son Sukhbir Badal and the DGP Mr. Saini, had been wilfully protecting and shielding Bikram Majithia despite Jagdish Bhola the drug lord, publically accusing him of deep involvement in the Rs. 6,000 crore racket. The Badal duo had built a frivolous argument, that they cannot seek the resignation of Bikram Majithia merely on assumptions or accusations made by a criminal like Jagdish Bhola. They had often dared the people and political parties to provide sufficient evidence against Bikram Majithia, before they could initiate any action against him.he added

We are of the firm opinion, that since the ED one of the premier investigating agencies of India has summoned Bikram Majithia, the Badal duo can now not run away from their promise of action against him. It is pertinent to mention here, that the Badals had been denying a CBI probe into the drug scandal on the pretext, that the CBI is a Congress Bureau of Investigation and not an independent agency under the UPA government. But now that the NDA government led by Mr. Modi PM is in the saddle and SAD a part and parcel of the alliance, the Badals cannot term ED as a tool of the Congress. he added

In case Mr. Badal fails to dismiss Bikram Majithia, his double standards and double faceted character too would be exposed, as he had pressurised Mr. Sarwan Singh Phillaur to resign as Minister on his summoning by the ED, a few months ago. It would be presumed that Mr. Phillaur was merely dismissed to make him a scapegoat, as he belonged to the weaker ‘Dalit’ section and did not wield influence and close relations, with the ruling Badal clan.

Although there was ample proof of Bikram Majithia’s involvement in drugs due to his close proximity with drug dealers like Bittu Aulakh, Jagjit Chahal, Satta and Pindi, all accused in the Jagdish Bhola drug case, but the summoning by ED is perhaps the last nail in the coffin of drug lords like Bikram Majithia, hence Mr. Badal cannot ignore this evidence.

Similarly, I question the stoic silence and double standards of BJP, that has been demanding the resignation of Avinash Chander CPS, but giving Bikram Majithia a clean chit to please the Badal clan.

Therefore, Congress reiterates its demand for the resignation of Bikram Majithia and a thorough free and fair investigation into the drug scandal, which is highly impossible with his continuance as Minister.he added
