-SIKHS WILL GET BENEFIT FROM THE DECISIONS: SIRSA
New Delhi/Chandigarh, October 6 : The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today informed that Anand Marriage Act has been implemented in the state of Kerala and now Sikhs residing in the state can get their marriages registered under the act.
In a statement issued here today, Mr. Sirsa disclosed that he has received a communication from Law Secretary, Law Department Kerala government in which he has informed that the state has implemented that act. He also said that Deputy Director of Panchayat of each revenue district shall be District Registrar of the revenue district concerned (Marriage registrar) in their respective area for registration of sikh marriages under the act.
Mr. Sirsa also informed that Sikhs can now get their marriages registered under the Anand Marriage Act instead of Hindu Marriage act and they will receive certificate of registration under Anand Marriage Act instead of Hindu Marriage Act. He said that government has issued guidelines necessary to the all concerned in the state. He said that marriages will be registered in the local jurisdiction of Marriage registrar where the Anand Karaj may have taken place.
The DSGMC General Secretary said that he was thankful to the Kerala government for taking this decision of implementation of the act. He said that it is a dream of the Shiromani Akali Dal Chief Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal that this act should be registered in all the states of the country so that people specially those who reside or travel abroad may not face problems which they face for certificates under the act. He said that this act has now been implemented in majority of the states of nation and expressed confidence that it will be implemented in all the states in near future.
