Kejriwal’s days as Delhi CM numbered – Bikram Majithia

Chandigarh, January 15 – Punjab Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said non performing Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s days as Delhi chief minister were now numbered. “You will soon realise that brave Punjabis are not afraid of threats of jail terms and political vendetta and that it is you who will face jail term on charges of defamation”.

In a statement here, Mr Majithia said Arvind Kejriwal, who had behaved more like a Natwar Lal during his past one year tenure in Delhi, should realise that Punjabis had always risen up against oppressors and outside forces who had tried to dominate them. “Forget jail, even facing bullets is in our Punjabi blood. If Kejriwal thinks he can scare me, the SAD or the people of Punjab by such intimidatory tactics he is living in a fool’s paradise”, the minister said.

Asking Kejriwal not to count his chickens before they hatched, Mr Majithia said he would hold up the AAP leader to every statement made yesterday. “You will have to prove what you said or face a jail term as a common criminal as per the law of the land”, he added.

The minister also made it clear that Kejriwal had made false and unfounded allegations against him. “We are not living in a banana republic. The allegations made by you were also made earlier by a number of political leaders and dismissed by the honourable courts. By levelling the same allegations you seem to be challenging the judgements of the courts and trying to cast a shadow on the same. “Are you ready to do this for your narrow selfish interests”, he asked adding while asking the AAP leader if he had faith in the judiciary or not.

Quipping that “Punjab Doorast hai” (Punjab is far) for Kejriwal in reference with a saying of a medieval Saint against an oppressive conqueror, the Revenue minister said Kejriwal seemed to have started salivating at the prospect of “conquering” Punjab because he did not enjoy any powers as Delhi CM. “You are welcome to try your might in a political fight but if you think you will conjure up tricks and use lies and deceit to hoodwink Punjabis we will not let you succeed in such endeavours”.

Mr Majithia said as far as he was concerned he knew Kejriwal was up to the same tricks which he had resorted to in Delhi. He said the AAP leader should know Punjabis would not tolerate such hit and run tactics.” We are quick to give ‘izzat’ but also know how to protect our self respect. It is these brave heart Punjabis who will now script your downfall”, he added.

The SAD leader said either Kejriwal should prove his charges or quit politics.” As far as I am concerned I am answerable to God and the people of Punjab who have bestowed faith in me as well as the SAD. Even as I pray to God to give me the ability to serve Punjabis in an even better manner, I am steadfast in my resolve not to let anyone defame me for his political interests and get away with it”, he added.
