Kejriwal should resign on moral grounds: Tarun Chugh on CPS disqualification

Tarun-ChughChandigarh, The BJP today hailed the decision of President Pranab Mukherjee who declined an approval to a legislation passed by the AAP government in Delhi.

The party said AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who always boasts of high morality, should resign on moral grounds, following the decision that has paved the way for the disqualification of 21 of his MLAs who were elevated as Chief Parliamentary Secretaries.

BJP National Secretary, Tarun Chugh Tuesday said that the Election Commission should take cognizance of the development and disqualify all the 21 MLAs with immediate effect.

Terming it as an unprecedented constitutional crisis, Chugh said the chief architect of this crisis was none else than the Delhi Chief Minister who had come to power riding on high moral ground. He said Kejriwal who had promised the people of Delhi that he would not burden the exchequer and the leaders of his party won’t be going after red-beacons and perks did exactly the opposite when the people of Delhi handed over a thumping majority to the AAP.

The BJP leader said that while Kejriwal became arrogant as soon as he attained power in Delhi, he didn’t hesitate to align himself with anti-national and separatist forces in Punjab.

Chugh said Kejriwal who had vowed to change the course of politics in India while in the august company of Anna Hazare, but was fully exposed when he decided to elevate 21 of his MLAs to the post of Chief Parliamentary Secretaries without having the constitutional mandate to do so.

He alleged that Kejriwal first increased the salary of Delhi MLAs fourfold and then elevated 21 MLAs as CPS just to contain the rebellion that was brewing within the party.

The BJP leader urged the Election Commission to take note of the petition pending against 21 Chief Parliamentary Secretaries and disqualify them with immediate effect.
