Chandigarh, October 26, 2015- Slamming AAP Punjab MP Bhagwant Mann for showing disrespect to Sri Guru Granth Sahib by attending bhog of two Sikhs killed in police firing under the influence of liquor on Sunday, BJP today said that party chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal should take an exemplary action against Mann.
Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the BJP, said that it was highly unfortunate that Bhagwant Mann chose to attend the bhog of two Sikhs at Bargari in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib under the influence of liquor.
He said that it was now an open secret that Bhagwant Mann went and sat there on the stage near Guru Granth Sahib while he was drunk. He was then admonished by a religious personality for being present on the stage in that condition and later chased by some Sikh youth out of the venue of Shaheedi Samagam.
Chugh said that by doing so Bhagwant Mann has not only shown disrespect to Guru Granth Sahib and hurt Sikh sentiments but has also conveyed what kind of leadership Kejriwal was imposing on Punjab to grab power in the state.
“It is very sad to know that when the whole of Punjab was in a state of pain and anguish over the incidents of sacrilege and deaths of two Sikhs in police firing, Bhagwant Mann dared to attend the bhog in a drunken state,” he said.
Chugh said that if this was the kind of leadership Kejriwal was trying to provide to Punjab, then people of the state would have to think twice before responding to AAP chief’s calls and appeals.
Urging Kejriwal to act against Bhagwant Mann, Chugh reminded AAP chief that this was not for the first time that Bhagwant Mann had appeared publicly under the influence of liquor.
By recently visiting Punjab, Kejriwal wanted to convey that his party was serious about Punjab but if he now doesn’t act against Sangrur MP for hurting religious sentiments, he would himself stand exposed, Chugh said.
