Kejriwal has proved he is chameleon number one by reverting to anti Punjab stance on SYL canal within 24 hours of return to Delhi – Bikram Majithia

Bikram-Singh-Majithia

Chandigarh, Punjab Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had proved he was chameleon number one of Indian politics by reverting to an anti-Punjab stance on the SYL canal within 24 hours of return to Delhi.

In a statement here, the Revenue minister and SAD general secretary said Punjabis had all along suspected Kejriwal’s intentions when he had supported Punjab’s views on the SYL canal keeping in view his past behaviour. He said this suspicion turned into reality when the AAP Convenor issued a statement yesterday that there should not be any politics over water and that every State should get the same.

Mr Mjithia said “I want to ask Mr Kejriwal if he was doing politics few days back when he made a statement against construction of the SYL canal on the basis that Punjab did not have any water to spare? Has the situation changed on the ground within a period of one day? Why has he changed his stance?”

Asserting that this was nothing new for the AAP chief, the SAD general secretary said earlier also Kejriwal had changed his stance according to what suited him at a particular time. “Before his first government was formed he promised on the head of his son that he would never align with the Congress party. He changed his stance immediately after the elections because he needed the support of the Congress to form the government. Similarly even as he supported Punjab’s stand on the SYL canal to further his political cause in Punjab, he retracted within days because he belongs to Haryana and his heart lies in Delhi. “Such a person can never be a votary of Punjab’s cause”, he said adding Kejriwal’s stance was similar to the anti- Punjab stance of the Gandhi family.

Stating that a leader with feet of clay could never deliver anything to his people, Mr Majithia said Kejriwal’s cowardly behaviour was in direct contrast to the leadership shown by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal in denotifying the land acquired for construction of the canal so that it could be transferred back to farmers. He said Mr Parkash Singh Badal did not stop at this alone. In order to make it clear to Punjabis that the SAD-BJP government will never allow construction of the SYL canal the chief minister moved a resolution yesterday to not allow construction of the SYL canal at any cost. “This is a sign of a true saviour and statesman”, the Revenue minister said adding Kejriwal on the other side had exposed himself by first announcing he was on Punjab’s side and now claiming that Haryana also needed water.

The SAD general secretary said Kejriwal’s volte face and flip flop politics was being denounced by his former colleagues also who had even issued a statement that AAP could do anything for votes. He said Kejirwal’s back stabbing ways and double speak had ensured the exit of the true volunteers and even two mps in Punjab who played a major role in creating AAP. “Today even the people of Delhi feel cheated by him as he has failed to pay salaries forget keeping promises like creating more jobs”, Majithia added.

Mr Majithia said all this proved that Kejriwal had no serious intention of taking a stand in favour of Punjab farmers and fighting for their right to retain their water like that being done by Mr Parkash Singh Badal. “Kejirwal was simply doing a drama to fool farmers and take their votes. However he has been exposed and will from now onwards be known as an anti-Punjab and anti-farmer leader”, the akali leader added.
