Chandigarh, The General body meeting of the Government Pensioners Association again elected unanimously former Punjab Chief Secretary Mr. K.D. Vasudeva elected as President of Association.
A spokesperson of the GPA said that the representatives of Nine Pensioners Associations of Punjab participated in the meeting. During the meeting, the representatives demands included setting up of 6th Punjab Pay commission, grant of interim relief of 20% of pension ( Minimum Rs. 2000/-) to the existing pensioners, increase in existing rate of pension from 50% to 67%, restoration of commuted portion of pension after recovery of the commuted value instead of after 15 years, cashless system of medical treatment, increase in fixed medical allowance to Rs. 1200 pm.
Mr. A.C. Sharma Vice President, Mr. Gurnam Singh Financial Advisor and Mr. Hukam Chand Bansal explained the demands in details. The representatives of various Associations took active part in the discussions.
Mr. K.D. Vasudeva assured that all the genuine demands of the pensioners would be perused with the Govt. at the appropriate level. He advised the various Associations to work unitedly for the welfare of the pensioners.
Mr. Vasudeva also released the revised Edition of GPA Punjab Pensioners Hand Book and praised the hard work put in by Mr. Gurnam Singh, Mr. Hukam Chand Bansal and Mr. K.L. Bhargava in preparing the revised edition under the leadership of Mr. A.C. Sharma.
During the meeting, Mr. K.L. Bhargava Secretary presented the report on the activities of the GPA.
