- Chargesheets four on the charges of scam and two for fund lapses
Chandigarh – Punjab Social Security Minister Mr. Surjit Kumar Jiyani today chargesheeted 6 District Programme Officers on the charges of embezzlement in funds against 4 and lapse of funds against 2 in 2013-14.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson said that Mr. Jiyani had received complaints against these officers for embezzlement in funds and on the basis of these complaints the Minister initiated chargesheet proceedings against them. He said that this action has been initiated after a thorough departmental probe conducted on the directions of Minister. He said that it was found that Medicine Kits purchased for Aanganwari Centers of Ludhiana, Mansa, Sangrur, Sri Muktsar, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib Districts were of low quality. He said on the basis of probe report Naresh Kumar (presently posted District Program Officer of Sri Muktsar Sahib) and Rakesh Walia (presently posted at Faridkot) have been chargesheeted on the charges of purchasing substandard medicine kits for Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana and Mansa district respectively.
The Spokesman also said that District Programme Officer Jagmel Singh (presently posted at Bathinda) and Avtar Kaur have been chargesheeted for purchasing low quality medicine kits for Sri Muktsar Sahib and Sangrur districts respectively.
He also informed that Sumandeep Kaur, District Programme Officer Hoshiarpur and Amarjit Kaur District Programme Officer Barnala have been chargesheeted for fund lapses of Rs. 89,22,000 and 40,68000 for the year 2013-14 respectively.
