Jayani asks Health Deptt. to launch state wide campaign against adulteration

Chandigarh, The Punjab Government has geared up to put a complete ban on the adulterated food products in the state. The Government has asked the officials to be launch a state wide campaign to collect samples of food products keeping in mind the coming festive season. The Punjab Health Minister Surjeet Kumar Jayani while presiding over a meeting of the district food safety officers directed that Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal has asked him nobody should be allowed to play with the lives of people by supplying adulterated Sweets, Cheese and Milk etc during the coming festive season.
Mr. Jayani directed the food safety officers to keep proper surveillance in the markets to check adulterated supply of sweets and no shopkeeper should be allowed to store Sweets in the store houses in abundance. He also asked the officers to raid all possible store houses such as cold stores etc and collect samples of collect samples on regular basis. He said that all below standard or expired food products should be destroyed in personal presence and big fines should be imposed on the people playing with the lives of people.

Minister also asked the officials to put surveillance teams to check flow of adulterated sweets and other milk products from other states. h He asked the officials to be strict and don’t listen to the approaches of such people involved in supplying adulterated food products. He also warned officials that state level teams would also conduct surprise checks across the state to check adulteration and if field officials found not performing their duty properly then the department would take strong action against them also.
Minster also appealed to the public to provide information about the adulterators so that action could be taken against them. He also announced that identity of informers would not be made public and they would also be honoured by the department.
Others prominent present in the meeting included Mr. Husan Lal MD PHSC, Dr. Bhag Mall Joint Director Food & Drugs and all district food safety officers.
