Chandigarh, In order to provide relief from the truck mafia, the leader of opposition has written a letter to the chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to protect the kinnow grower or its industry from the monopoly of the truck unions.
Sunil Jakhar also raised the question mark over the existence of these kinds of truck mafias, who controlled the trade and other transportation of the basic goods under the nose of state Government. Sunil Jakhar said that it is matter of serious concern thatPunjab has well established industry of Kinnows but these local transporters have been destroying the trade of Kinnow by adopting anti trader conditions.
Sunil Jakhar also mentioned that among the south-west districts of the Punjab, Fazilka and Muktsar Sahib is on the first and second number in the production of the Kinnows, and 98 percent Kinnow have been exporting to the other states and other districts within state, in which these transporter has important role to provide the transportation of the goods.
Due to the autocratic attitude of these transporter unions, they kinnow growers have been suffering from the hike in transportation charges. He said that this the seasonal trade and it depends on very much of the efficiency of the transport system.
He urged to the chief minister to interfere in the matter and also seek relaxation to the kinnow growers as more than 100 units have been established and state governmentcould took immediate action to protect the Kinnow grower or traders. He also blamed the central or state government for their anti trade policy and mentioned that basic issues need to addressed on the priority basis instead of doing false assurances.
