New Delhi: Throughout his life, Jagmohan Dalmiya was known as a brusk man and a strong cricket administrator. Still the cricket fraternity bid an emotional farewell to a man whose contribution towards Indian cricket will be remembered for a long long time.
After his demise, many people related to the sport, across the world, paid their condolences and praised Dalmiya for being one of the finest administrators in cricket world.
In fact, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar tagged him as player’s administrator.
“Mr. Dalmiya was truly special to me. All along, he was very helpful, not just to me but for all the cricketers. Whenever there was an issue with the players, he would take special interest to ensure the players’ point of view was factored in the discussions. He cared about cricket and cricketers. Deep within, he was a players’ administrator,” Tendulkar told Mumbai Mirror.
The Master Blaster also said that Dalmiya earned the respect of players.
“He was also aware that the players looked up to him to protect their interest and he would never let them down. It was a kind of give-and-take relationship between him and the players. He earned the respect of the players during those discussion. You respect the person who cares for you,” Tendulkar added.
Dalmiya’s demise left a huge void in Indian cricket administration. However, now it would be interesting to see who will take over the reins of the BCCI.
