Ever since Mark Wood was ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2022 due to an injury, there were several reports which suggested various names that could be signed by the Lucknow Super Giants as his replacement. While many suggested somebody like Andrew Tye could have been a good bet, seems like the franchise has gone ahead with another option.

It is being reported that the KL Rahul-led franchise has signed right-arm pacer Blessing Muzarabani as the Englishman’s replacement. The 25-year-old has a rich experience of playing franchise cricket around the world and has already played under head coach Andy Flower at Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League.
While an official statement from the Lucknow franchise is yet to be released, the official Twitter account of the Embassy of India in Harare, Zimbabwe has already confirmed that Muzarabani is preparing to leave for India and will be playing for Lucknow in the world’s biggest T20 league.
“Ambassador met with Mr Blessing Muzarabani, the Zimbabwean bowler, as he prepared to leave for #IPL2022. Ambassador wished him & his team #LucknowSuperGiants the very best. #IndiaAt75 @IndianDiplomacy @MEAIndia @iccr_hq,” the embassy tweeted.

IPL 2022 is set to commence on March 26 but Lucknow will begin their campaign only on March 28 when they play their first match against fellow debutants Gujarat Titans.
Other than the two new teams, the other big talking point would be to see the two Pandya brothers playing against each other. While Hardik Pandya has been appointed the captain of the Gujarat side, Krunal Pandya will be donning the Lucknow colours.
