iPhone with no buttons finally a reality? Here is everything we know about iPhone 15 Pro

Apple will launch a new iPhone series, likely to be the iPhone 15 series, in a few months. Similar to last year, we will likely see iPhone 15, a bigger iPhone 15 Plus, and two Pro models – iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Naturally, the Pro models will get all the incremental features, but some past leaks suggest a button-less body this year. Apple removed the 3.5mm audio jack in 2017 and the SIM card tray last year (only iPhone 14 series US). Will a button-less iPhone 15 become a reality this year? Here’s what we know.

If Apple goes in favour of such a monumental design change, it will likely appear on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models first, followed by regular iPhones in the future. But a new leak suggests that iPhone’s new Pro variants won’t go button-less after all.

According to a leak and as reported by 9To5Mac, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will likely have regular buttons due to production-related issues. The company was expected to add solid-state buttons to help users manage volume and other functionalities with haptic feedback. It means users could swipe up or down or tap a dedicated portion of the smartphone to manage volume or enable Siri. But that is not becoming the reality — at least for now.

Buttons or no buttons, the new iPhone 15 Pro may introduce a new action button, which debuted on the Apple Watch Ultra last year. The action button lets users activate multiple functionalities through customisable taps. As expected, this will only be limited to Pro models, and the regular versions of iPhone 15 will have the old mute switch feature.

Apple is also said to introduce a Type-C port for charging on iPhone 15 models. It should remove the hassle for iPhone users to look for a charger from Android users during those emergency moments. A separate leak suggests that iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would include Thunderbolt support to offer high data transfer speeds.

Apple will also likely boast the Pro models’ all-day battery, display, new SoC, and cameras. Apple is known for cameras, especially for sharp and stable videos. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models may include an improved primary camera with better stabilisation.

The regular models are expected to pack last year’s flagship A16 Bionic chip under the hood and the Pro models will likely pack the new Apple A17 Bionic SoC.
