iOS 17 could bring changes to Siri, Apple’s smart assistant app

IOS 17, launching later this year, is expected to make changes in a few built-in applications including the flagship app Siri. The app is said to be getting new improvements in its user experience where the Siri on-screen interface is to be replaced from the bottom of the screen to the top of Dynamic Island.

Siri has always had a sphere animation appear on the screen when the user says the “Hey Siri” command. The answer to the command appears on the top of the screen which now will shift to the dynamic island and will seem more seamless in its display. However, the feature, for obvious reasons, can only be available on models that have Dynamic Island displays. The list includes the high-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The upcoming iPhone 15 lineup this year, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and the anticipated iPhone 15 Ultra, will also have the digital notch implying the new feature’s compatibility.

iOS 17 new features

Another addition to IOS 17’s changes for Siri is that the user may not say “Hey Siri” anymore, they can just command with “Siri”. This is a similar design for Alexa, where you just call out the name and continue with the command. This feature was not explored yet because of the technical difficulties with the accent of the users hence, using a prefix such as ‘Hey’ enables the processor to understand the command better. However, now iPhones might get this feature for Siri.

The availability of iOS 17 hasn’t yet been disclosed as per one report the operating system is available only for iPhone 8 Pro and iPhone X and the succeeding models and according to another report, all iPhone models that possess the iOS 16 system will have an upgrade for iOS 17. Apple will confirm either of the two in the upcoming annual WWDC conference in June where iOS is debuting.
