International players to be absorbed on govt jobs-Sukhbir Badal

Chandigarh/Chohla Sahib (Tarn Taran), December 11: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that for promoting sports culture in the state, theSAD-BJP government is coming up with a job policy where the players performing well in their respective disciplines international games, would automatically become eligible for a government job. Mr Badal said that a new job policy in this regard would be discussed upon during the Cabinet Meeting scheduled for December 16.

The Deputy CM said that this would not only promote sports culture in the state but would also save the sportspersons from getting harassed. “Besides this, we are also in the process of hiring national and international expert coaches, who would train the sportspersons as my main aim is that the Indian contingent for 2016 Olympics should have maximum participation of Punjabi players,” said the Deputy CM while addressing the audience at Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji Sports Stadium at Chohla Sahib in Tarn Taran district today.

Mr. Badal said that Punjab has already achieved the status of power surplus state and from next year, there would not even be any shortage of coal. “Thermal Plant at Goindwal Sahib is complete and it would start getting power supply shortly as the centre government is already formulating a national policy for coal supply to the states,” said the Deputy CM.

Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said that it was the only SAD-BJP government that has sanctioned one lakh tubewell connections to the farmers. “But some people from the opposition have managed to take stay on the power connections from National Green Tribunal. We have asked our battery of lawyers to pursue the case properly so that the stay is vacated at the earliest,” said the Deputy CM.

He said that Punjab has registered revolutionary initiatives in education, sports, infrastructure, power etc. and government was all set to lay 4/6 lane road network at the cost of Rs. 11000 crore. For provisioning of potable water he said that water works in the villages would be setup at the request of village panchayats.

Historical and religious town of Chohla Sahib today played host to four matches of fifthKabaddi World Cup 2014 today. Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal was the chief guest on the occasion while Member of Parliament Mr Ranjit Singh Brahmpura was the guest of honour.

While addressing the gathering, Mr Ranjit Singh Brahmpura thanked the Deputy CM for choosing Chohla Sahib as the venue for Kabaddi World Cup for consecutive fifth time. Mr Brahmpura requested the state government to constrict a bigger stadium along with sports academy at Chohla Sahib. The Deputy CM promised that very soon, sports department would finalise the modalities in this regard.
