Indian Coast Guard ​apprehends Bangladeshi trawlers with 55 people

Kakdwip: Two Bangladeshi trawlers with 55 men onboard have been apprehended by the Coast Guard, 63 nautical miles off Sagar Island for illegally entering Indian waters, a police official said on Monday.

Superintendent of Police, South 24 Parganas district, Praveen Tripathy, said the Bangladeshi trawlers ‘Allahar Malik 2’ and ‘Anowara’ were escorted by a Coast Guard ship to Sagar Island where the Bangladeshis were handed over to Marine police at Frazerganj yesterday.

The Bangladeshis will be produced at a Kakdwip court today.
