The rift between Bargari Insaf Morcha leaders widened further as they stayed away from each other during the commemoration of Operation Bluestar anniversary at the Golden Temple today.
The 2015 Sarbat Khalsa-appointed Akal Takht parallel acting Jathedar Dhian Singh Mand, Akal Takht parallel Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara-appointed committee members and SAD (A) leaders maintained distance from each other.
While Mand delivered his message to the community from the ground floor of Akal Takht, Hawara’s message was read out by his godfather Bapu Gurcharan Singh, but from a different spot.
Similarly, parallel jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib Baljit Singh Daduwal appeared later on. He paid obeisance at the Golden Temple, but chose to stay outside the complex for some time.
They all were key organisers of six-month-long dharna at Bargari that was lifted on December 9, 2018, which led to differences between them over the conditions that were reportedly not fulfilled by the government.
Hawara committee member Prof Baljinder Singh said, “It was for the first time that Hawara’s message was read out in the Golden Temple complex on his behalf. The 21-member committee appointed by Hawara maintained its own identity separately and was committed for the cause of Sikh community,” he said.
Similarly, SAD (A) leaders gathered at a different location. Its president Simranjit Singh Mann addressed his supporters separately. Mann said they wanted to pay homage to those who laid down their lives for the Panth, but the SGPC in connivance with other mischievous elements tried to vitiate the atmosphere.
