New Delhi: Continuing with its innovative approach, Internet giant Google is planning to develop a new health app. And this time, Google’s new fitness app will not directly work on your body, but through the lens- courtesy Instagram food photos!

Google’s Im2Calories app will count the calories of the food from the photos on people’s Instagram feed. The app that uses advanced image recognition technology may even tell you the nutritional value of food.

The app can work out the size of each piece of food in relation to the plate, as well as any condiments that were placed beside it, reports the Daily Mail.

One major hurdle of the app is to know the content of hidden fats such as oil and butter.

The idea came from DeepMind, a company Google bought in 2014 for 400 million dollars, and it will be called Im2Calories, People Magazine reported.

While Google is yet to reveal about the availability and cost of Im2Calories, the company has already filed its patent application for the app.
