‘I’ll strive to be Akshara Haasan,’ says ‘Shamitabh’ debutante Akshara

It’s her first Bollywood venture and by that standard she is already a star. Making a debut alongside megastar Amitabh Bachchan and South superstar Dhanush in ‘Shamitabh‘, Akshara Haasan is confident, cool and stylish; something one would not expect. But that’s the advantage of being another legend Kamal Haasan’s daughter.
Dressed in black, Akshara made a confident entry into the hall filled with prying journalists.

‘I’ll strive to be Akshara Haasan,’ was her instant reply to the obvious question regarding the comparisons that would be drawn with her father Kamal Haasan and mother Sarika.
“I know the comparisons are inevitable, but yeah! I will strive to establish my own identity,” she added.

So, was it difficult for her to decide on ‘Shamitabh’ for the big Bollywood debut; it being a different movie and her playing a strong character role? Akshara replied, “The movie came to me six months after I decided to be an actress. And I loved the role. It was challenging and a huge opportunity for me to learn. There was no reason I would say no to it.”
One could see the shyness overpowering the words, but Akshara even managed to speak a few words of Hindi.

When asked about her experience of shooting with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and talented Dhanush, she said, “‘Main bahot honoured hoon ki mujhe yeh mauka mila’ (I am honoured that I got this chance),” quite surprising Big B who had translated the question for her from Hindi to English.
Sharing her experience of working with the two stars, Akshara said, “It was great to work with them as they were really helpful.”
‘Shamitabh’ is slated to release on February 6.
