I feel shocked and ashamed over Moga incident: Capt Amarinder

amrinderChandigrah, April 30: Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today condemned the incident of molestation that forced a mother and her daughter to jump form a running bus leading to death of the girl. He said, it was reflective of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state as the criminals had no fear of law.

“I am shocked and ashamed of such an incident having happened in our Punjab that nobody came to the rescue of the helpless mother and the daughter that eventually they were forced to jump off the running bus to save their honour leading to the death of the girl”, Capt Amarinder said in a statement issued here today.

The former Chief Minister demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and their time bound trial in a special trial court. “Justice must not be delayed in this matter lest our mothers, sisters and daughters shall be forced to sit at home out of fear for their honour”, he asserted. Besides, he added, the conductor and the driver of the bus must be held equally responsible for not helping the girl and her mother.

“I can feel the grief and the pain of the family as a father as nothing can compensate this tragedy where a young girl gave up her life to save her honour”, he said in an emotional tone adding, this incident must prick the conscience of one and all so that no woman in distress is left at her own mercy while others watch as silent spectators.
