* State Government did not compensate ever to the victim farmers, who lost their crops in 2014
* Jakhar reminds Chief Minister that Compensation of Rs 51 crore of Mukstar district and Rs 32 Crore of Fazilka district still pending since September last year
Chandigarh, “I am strict to my statement over the denial of compensation to the affected farmers, who lost their crops in the year 2014 by the state Government and ruling SAD-BJP did not provide any compensation to the farmers till the day”, the leader of opposition in the Punjab assembly Sunil Jakhar has conveyed these words to the chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here on Tuesday.
Reacting on the statement of the chief minister Parkash Singh Badal that leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar has been misleading the farmers and people of the state by sharing distorted facts, the leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar has reminded the chief minister had announced the compensation to the affected farmers over the lapse of their crops during his visit on September 15, 2014 at Abohar. He said that farmers could not get any single rupee of compensation even after the six months.
He also shared the fact that the compensation of Rs 51 crore of Muktsar and Rs 32 crore of fazilka district still pending since the September last year. He also slammed the state Government that the central government had released the State disaster response funds of Rs 203 crore from the central pool and Rs 67 from the state for the affected farmers but the due the state Government, which is full of sin, have diverted these funds for some other purposes or distributed to their protégés.
He also claimed that under this ruling government, some officials were enjoying their foreign trip and there were gross irregularities in the utilization of grants received under the relief funds since 2007. The state government never provided compensation to the farmers timely.
He said that instead of blaming the opposition parties, the SAD-BJP govt. must introspect about his announcements and working of his state Government. He also urged the Punjab Govt. to release the compensation for farmers immediately. He said that it is not the congress party, who is misleading the people of the state, actually this kind of tactics of day dreaming have been playing by the ministers of the state.
