The Mohali Police booked rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh and movie producer Bhushan Kumar for “objectionable contents” in their song “Makhna”.
A case under Sections 294 (punishment for obscene act or words in public) and 509 (words, gestures intended to insult woman) of the IPC and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act and Section 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act has been registered against the duo at the Mataur police station here.
Mohali SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar said the Punjab State Women Commission has shot a communique to the local police and asked them to check the contents of the song, “Makhna”, sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Neha Kakkar. Bhushan Kumar is said to be the producer of the album.
The women commission had also sent a communiqué to Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta seeking police action if needed. The DGP had directed the Mohali SSP to look into the matter.
Bhullar said, “Our SP-level officer inquired into the matter and prepared a report in which the content in the song in question was found objectionable. After taking legal opinion from our district attorney, we registered a case in this regard.”
