Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, May 13: The Punjab and Haryana High Court today pulled up Punjab and Haryana governments for not clearing sugarcane arrears.
The arrears amount to about Rs 730 crore in Punjab and Rs 900 crore in Haryana. The finance secretaries and other officials concerned appeared in the high court. The court also asked Haryana about the interest payment made by the government to the farmers on thee arrears earlier. The court also issued notice to the centre to explain as to what was being done to extend financial help to the sugar mills.
