The GTA and much of the province could be in for a soaking.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement advising that the GTA and much of the province could see heavy rainfall Tuesday.
“A slow-moving low pressure system over eastern Texas is forecast to drift northwards over the next couple of days reaching the lower Great Lakes on Tuesday,” the agency said in its statement. “It will tap the same tropical moisture which has been responsible for flooding rains across Louisiana.”
Most areas could see 25 to 40 mm of rain, according to the statement. However Environment Canada advised that some local areas could see more than 60 mm.
The advisory comes just a day after a powerful storm blew down trees and damaged some homes across southern Ontario.
However the latest wet weather follows a long stretch of hot, humid weather.
A heat warning for Toronto and much of the province was only lifted Saturday night after being in effect for close to a week, with daily highs reaching above 30 C.
A more temperate outlook is expected next week, with Environment Canada forecasting temperatures ranging from overnight lows of 14 C to daytime highs of 28 C.
