Chandigarh, The Punjab and Haryana High Court today further extended the stay on implementation of transfer orders of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer, who had questioned state Minister Bikram Majithia in the Bhola drug case. The orders will remain in force till March 12.
As the matter came up for resumed hearing, the ED submitted that it would present a supplementary complaint against the accused in the case before the competent court on March 2. The court asked the ED to specify the officer who could replace Niranjan Singh or alternatively specify the officer who could be posted at Kolkata in a case monitored by the SC.
The ED, on the previous date of hearing, had claimed that Niranjan Singh’s services were required in Kolkata. The argument, however, had not found favour with the Bench. It was apparently of the opinion that some other official could be sent to Kolkata or promoted for the purpose. The plea against the transfer was filed by advocate Navkiran Singh in the ongoing drugs case.
