The Panchkula police are now looking into the role of Iqbal Singh, whose wife Sukhdeep Kaur was arrested with Honeypreet, for having made arrangements for the latter’s stay at Jangirana village, near here.
The house in Jangirana village is owned by Gurmeet Singh, cousin of Iqbal Singh. Iqbal Singh hails from Balluana in Bathinda, but he left his house a decade ago and shifted with his family to Sirsa.
After the arrest of Honeypreet, the Panchkula police marked two destinations in Bathinda — one in city and other at Balluana village.
Iqbal Singh is the owner of both houses in Bathinda and Balluana. The Haryana Police visited the houses with Honeypreet on October 5, but failed to find anything. Yesterday they got clues about her stay at Jangirana village during hiding.
According to sources, a special investigation team of the Panchkula police has recorded the statement of Sharanjeet Kaur, mother of Gurmeet Singh, in which she cleared that she had told Sukhdeep to leave the house, as it had come to her notice that Honeypreet was living with Sukhdeep.
The Haryana Police will register another case against those persons who had given shelter to Honeypreet, but the Bathinda police will not initiate any action against those who had given shelter to her as the Haryana Police have not give anything in written to the Bathinda police.
