Hitting back at Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for calling her “arrogant”, Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today, while thanking him for his comments, said she would pray to the almighty as she always did to grant her even more humility.
Accompanied by SAD chief Sukhbir Badal, Harsimrat was in the city to file her nomination papers. Though the power couple apparently avoided the media waiting outside the DC office and embarked on the roadshow, the two-time sitting MP later issued a statement.
Reacting to the CM’s comments, she said, “I leave it to the people to evaluate Raja sahib’s comments. I put my faith in the Almighty and leave it to the people of Bathinda to judge me.”
The Bathinda MP said while she did not want to join issues with the CM on comments about her nature, she did take umbrage to Amarinder’s claim that she had not supported Punjab’s cause in any way. “I have taken up issues concerning Punjab as well as the Sikh community vociferously. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always reacted positively to my concerns and even supported me, you (CM) have continuously avoided acting on my letters and in fact also delayed the AIIMS project as well as the Ladhowal mega food park.”
