Harsimrat Badal & Sukhbir Badal to inaugurate Punjab’s first mega food park on Dec 13

Dabwala Kalan (Fazilka), Punjab is all set to observe a red letter day on December 13 with Union Minister for Food processing Industry Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Punjab’s deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal inaugurating state’s first mega food park and country’s fourth mega food park in this border district in village Dabwala Kalan of Arniwala block on this day.

The International Mega Food Park Limited has set up this ambitious project in 55 acres of land at a cost of Rs 136 cr. CMD of the company Mr Sukhwinder Singh, executive director Mr Simrinder Singh and vice-president Captain M S Bedi said that the project is complete in all aspects wherein the Union Minister Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal and her department have contributed immensely in establishing this multi crore project. They expressed happiness over the Union Minister Mrs Harsimrat Badal and deputy CM Sukhbir Badal inaugurating the project on December 13.

This mega food park would have facilities for processing milk, milk products like butter, cheese, ghee, milk powder, fatless milk and other products. Besides this it would also tin package vegetables like peas, cauliflower, carrot, onion, potato, lady’s fingers, bitter gourd and fruits like banana, jamun, orange, kinnow, other citrus fruits etc.

The International Mega Food Park Limited has tied up for production and marketing with renowned companies like Creamwell. The company is also setting up a 4 Mega Watt of power plant to contribute towards energy needs. The power would be produced using waste generated from the industry and surplus power would be given to state power board.

Fazilka’s Deputy Commissioner Mr. Manjit Singh Brar said besides generating employment for thousands of youngsters of the region directly and indirectly, the industry would also ensure proper prices to farmers for their agriculture and dairy produce thereby strengthening their economic condition. He added that the company was setting up collection centers in villages in a phased manner besides providing bulk milk chillers and transportation facilities.

This first-of-its-kind food park in state providing packed agriculture products will not only encourage the similar industry, but would also create scores of employment opportunities for the youngsters.
