New Delhi, September 1 : The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) today honoured Indian star cricketer and Indian Vice Captain Harmanpreet Kaur here today. New Delhi, September 1 : The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) today honoured Indian star cricketer and Indian Vice Captain Harmanpreet Kaur here today. She was presented with a robe of honour, a cheque of Rs. One lakh, a silver coin replica of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur’s time and a book on Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. Speaking on the occasion S. Manjit Singh GK President DSGMC said that Harmanpreet Kaur with her achievements has made the sikh community, her family and nation proud. He said that he was impressed with her decision to dedicate her achievement for 1984 a year which no law abiding citizen of the country can forget. He said that though men cricket team gets much more facilities then women team but still the whole team has shown to the country that they can do even without facilities. Presenting her with a cheque of Rs. One lakh, S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa General Secretary DSGMC said that though this occasion was to honour Harmanpreet by DSGMC, but with her great achievement we feel that we are honoured by her presence. He said that she has become an icon for every Indian family and what the governments could not do with multi million expenditure for dissuading the people onfemale foeticide, she has done in a single stroke with her achievements. He said that Guru Nanak Dev ji has said the we cannot critize women who gave birth to the kings and Harmanpreet with her achievements has shown to the people that having a daughter can also bring a moment of proud in their life. Mr. Sirsa requested Harmanpreet to devote a single day for students of schools run by DSGMC to deliver them inspiring lectures and she readily accepted the request and committed to spend a day sometime next month. On the occasion Harmanpreet Kaur thanked the DSGMC team for honouring her and said that she hopes that as this time the DSGMC has encouraged her this time, it will continue to do so. On the occasion Mr. Parmjit Singh Rana congratulated Harmanpreet Kaur for her achievements and thanked the guests present on the occasion. Prominent present on the occasion included Swaran Singh Brar, Amarjit Singh Pinky, Sarvjit Singh Virk, Gurmeet Singh Bhatia, Harjit Singh Pappa, Chaman Singh, Dr. Nishan Singh Mann, Atma Singh Lubana, Onkar Singh Raja and Raminder Singh Sweeta besides others.
