Rajkot: In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old man from Rajkot allegedly hanged himself to death on Friday after losing Rs 60 lakh in the share market, police said.The deceased has been identified as Rohit Raiyani, a resident of Morbi Road in Rajkot.
The incident happened at Rohit’s house on Friday evening when Rohit’s father Gordanbhai went to call him for dinner. However, he found him hanging in his room, reported the Times of India.Police said that Gordanbhai had sold his land in their village for Rs 80 lakh for Rohit’s marriage. However, Rohit secretly invested Rs 60 lakh in share market eyeing higher returns but lost all his investments.Police said that Rohit was mentally disturbed after suffering losses in the stock market. During investigation, police recovered documents of his share market investments.In another suicide case reported from Ahmedabad last month, a 32-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself following a tiff with her husband on buying groceries.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Namita Jain, a resident of Hariomnagar Apartments in Sola area. Reportedly, the woman had been pestering her husband to stock up on the edibles, while her husband denied it. A complaint was lodged with the Ghatlodia police in connection with the case.The deceased woman’s husband has been identified as Kapi, who runs a fast-food centre in Ghatlodia. When his wife would ask for stocking groceries items, he used to argue saying that he did not have enough money to buy bigger stocks. The heart-wrenching incident unfolded after the woman’s husband allegedly abused her. Namita hung herself from a ceiling fan in the drawing-room when Kapi and their two-year-old daughter were asleep.
