Govt harassing my kin : Nandgarh

Bathinda, Balwant Singh Nandgarh, who was unceremoniously removed as Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, today accused the Punjab government of harassing his family.
He said he was ready to pay any price for his stand on the Nanakshahi calendar and the entity of the Sikh Panth.
Nandgarh’s wife and 13 others have been booked in a cheating case on court orders on a complaint filed by Amarjeet Kaur, who is a widow.
Among others booked is patwari Jaspal Singh, nephew of Nandgarh’s wife Sukhdev Kaur.
“The case, that was pending in court since 2013, was highlighted in the media within days of my ouster. This proves that there is something fishy,” claimed Nandgarh. He said it was an attempt to malign his image because of the overwhelming response he had received from the Sikh Sangat on the Nanakshahi calendar issue.
“Had I played into the hands of the Punjab government, which also controls the SGPC, I would have continued in the Jathedar’s post. But I decided to raise my voice against the Bikrami calendar and earned the SGPC wrath,” Nandgarh said.
He claimed that the disputed 8.5 marla plot was purchased from the legatees of one Gian Singh (khasra number 354/16/1).
“Complainant Amarjeet Kaur, who purchased another piece of land from the same sellers, is trying to annex our land by manipulating the plot drawings,” he alleged.
Nandgarh said on September 5, 2013, the Civil Judge, Talwandi Sabo, had granted a stay, asking both parties not to interfere in each other’s area.
“Also, an inquiry conducted by the SDM, Talwandi Sabo, on the orders of Bathinda Deputy Commissioner, found that the farad (No 30) was in order. I will move the higher court against the order,” Nandgarh said.
The complainant’s counsel, JS Jassal, said the next date of hearing was February 23. He said they too would produce documentary evidence to prove their case.
