* Keen to promote farming, agro-processing and education
Chandigarh, President of Ghana Republic Mr. John Dramani Mahama has invited Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal to visit Ghana along with a delegation to initiate joint venture in specific areas manufacturing, farming, agro-processing, jewellery making, hydro-power projects, education etc.
Envisioning strong ties between duo states, Mr. Mahama emphasised that Deputy CM along with high level delegation of progressive farmers and captains of industry should visit Ghana in coming months so that the both states could grow in leaps and bounds in agro and industrial sectors. In an invitation letter he said Ghana was keen to promote farming, agro-processing, education, hydro power and other areas with the mutual cooperation from the agrarian state Punjab.
Recalling the deliberations held by Ghana delegation led by its Deputy Minister for Energy and Petroleum Benjamin Dagadu in the month of August, Mr. Mahama rolled out a proposal for setting up of progressive Punjabi farmers in Ghana. He also assured that they would allocate fertile agri-land to Punjabi farmers on lease.
President of Ghana said his country also aspires to initiate meaningful business ties with Punjab in specific areas. Mr. Mahama also offered that Punjabi entrepreneurs could also take advantage of natural resources of Ghana by setting up their units over their while Punjab could assist Ghana in becoming an agro-based state.
Mr. Mahama urged Deputy CM to send confirmation of their visit as early as possible as Ghana was also interested to take help of Punjab in power sector also as this state has set new milestone in power generation sector. EOM
