Gangster Ravi Deol sent to police remanded till February 11

Sangrur, Gangster Ravi Deol was on Saturday sent to police remand till February 11 in an attempt-to-murder case.

He had surrendered in the local court on January 30. He faces a total of 12 cases. His name had also figured in the multi-crore drugs racket after the alleged recovey of ICE from his Sangrur house.

During the court hearing on Saturday, speaking to the media, Deol alleged that Amanvir Cherry, OSD to former Union minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, had made him a gangster by compelling him to work for him. Deol alleged that Cherry got many illegal acts done by him.

He alleged that Cherry, along with Manu, a government employee, had pressed him to threat innocent people for illegal works in property dispute cases.

Cherry and Manu both said he was levelling baseless allegations against them.

“During the past 15 years I have never met Deol, neither did I know him. He is levelling baseless allegations against me on the instance of my political opponents. I demand a high-level inquiry to expose all those who are using Deol to tarnish my image,” said Cherry.

Manu alleged that Deol had been defaming him on Facebook after he refused to help him in the drugs case.

Deol’s counsel Ashwani Chaudhary and Raj Kumar Goyal said the local court had sent Deol in police remand till February 11 for recovering a weapon and a vehicle.

Sukhpal Singh, Deol’s father, said Ravi was away from home for the past 10 years. He supported his son saying the latter was not involved in any drug smuggling and was falsely implicated in the case. “Had Ravi been involved in drug smuggling, our family would have amassed huge wealth and would not be facing serious financial problems,” he said.
