The last rites of four persons, who were killed during the violence in Panchkula on Friday, were performed today.
Lovepreet Singh (16), who had gone to Panchkula with his aunt, was cremated at his native village Thehri near Malout amid tight security. He had gone to his aunt’s house at Mohanpura village in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar district about a week ago.
Meanwhile, the body of another deceased from the district, Gurpiar Singh (40), is yet to reach his native village Abul Khurana. Those, who had gone to bring the body from Panchkula, said the post-mortem was conducted late in the evening today.
Fazilka: Dera follower Aman Gagneja (22) was cremated in the district’s Tahliwala Bodla village. His body reached the village on Saturday night. Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Mukhtiar Singh, DSP and tehsildar were present at the cremation.
Aman had a mobile phone shop at the village bus stand.
Sources said he had been associated with the dera for the past four years. Members of his family, too, were dera followers.
In Friday’s violence, a bullet hit his back; he died on spot.
Sources said another follower Manga Singh (28) of Mahuana Bodla village was admitted to hospital in Chandigarh. He had sustained injuries during the violence.
Sangrur: There was a heavy police deployment for the cremation of two dera followers in Moonak and Barnala.
The bodies of Uggar Sain (40) from Dhudike village near Moonak and Jagrup Singh from Barnala’s Badbar village were consigned to flames.
Jagrup’s relatives told the media he had gone to Panchkula on August 24 after getting a call from other followers.
The body of Ranjit Singh (28) from Lehra was expected to reach the city in the evening.
“The situation is under control in the district, but we do not want to take any chances. So, the police have been deployed in Lehra and Moonak,” said SSP Mandeep Sidhu.
