Ford staffer files integrity commissioner complaint over remark by Tory

Toronto, Rob Ford’s executive assistant has filed a complaint with the city’s integrity commissioner over remarks made by Mayor John Tory during Wednesday’s budget debate.
Ford was questioning Tory on why he needed to increase his office budget by about $300,000 when the mayor replied that the money was necessary to run a “professional administration” and do the type of job that residents expect.
Speaking with CP24 on Wednesday night, Dan Jacobs confirmed that he filed a complaint with the city’s integrity commissioner over the remark because he felt that it was intended as a jab at Ford’s office staff.
Jacobs previously served as Ford’s chief of staff when he occupied the mayor’s office.
“This calls into question the manner in which I conducted myself while employed in the office of the mayor, as it does for any past employees of that office,” Jacobs wrote in a copy of the complaint that was subsequently published by the Toronto Sun. “Not only is this incredibly disrespectful, but I believe it could open both the mayor and the city to potential liability, as it puts a negative slant on my work as an employee of the city, which he has no right to say.”
