Five youths detained for protesting over CAA and JNU clashes at Jaipur Literature Festival SHARE ARTICLE 5 SHARES

Jaipur
Five youths, who were protesting over Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and Jawaharlal Nehru University clashes at the Jaipur Literature Festival on Sunday, were detained by the Rajasthan Police.

The men, who were raising slogans, were apprehended by the bouncers and taken outside, DCP South Yogesh Dadhich told The Tribune.

They were taken to the Ashok Nagar police station where they were detained for interrogation, the DCP said, adding many of the detained youths have links with Communist Party of India.

Meanwhile, general secretary of National Federation of Indian Federation Nisha Sidhu blamed the JLF for hiring bouncers who have beaten up students who were playing an awareness-cum-cultural show after getting JLF registration of entry.

Now the police were not registering an FIR against JLF bouncers, Sidhu, who is prominent CPI leader too, alleged.

These students are regularly going to JLF for a street show cum cultural programme, she said, adding what went wrong should be probed now.

The detained youths were being released under Section 129 of CrPC, and their complaint against JLF bouncers would be investigated before registering any FIR, the DCP clarified.
