FIR against Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor in Pune

On the basis of a complaint by a CID inspector, the Pune police have registered an FIR against 14 persons, including filmmaker Karan Johar and actors Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh for allegedly using obscene and abusive language during the AIB Roast event held in Mumbai.
The FIR has been filed under sections 292 (Distribution of obscene content or lascivious or appeals to the prurient interest), Section 294 (Obscene Act in public place) of the Indian Penal Code and section 67a of IT Act (Publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone I) Suresh Pathare said, “We have registered a first information report in this case. It is an offence under IT Act, which requires no specific jurisdiction for registration. We would be asking youtube to provide the alleged objectionable videos of the said event. Investigation is on.”
At least two police cases were earlier filed in Mumbai against the event, alleging that it violated religious sentiments.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised action against organisers of the controversial comedy show if it had violated any law. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena too has sought apology from the AIB.
