New Delhi, March 5
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) today said it had filed a complaint against actor Kangana Ranaut seeking registration of an FIR for allegedly defaming the Sikh community along with promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion and race.
The complaint filed in the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at the Patiala House Court seeks action under Section 156 (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, saying the social media posts of the actor intended to outrage religious sentiments.
This also tantamount to making statements conducing to public mischief under Sections 153A, 153B, 295A and 505(1)(b) of the IPC, it added. DSGMC chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa tweeted that the case was listed for March 10. The complaint said Ranaut had an ulterior motive to defame the Sikh community on social media platforms by inciting hate towards it.
