Jalandhar/Chandigarh, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majthia to its Jalandhar office at 11 am on December 26 for questioning in the Rs 6,000-crore drug smuggling case.
The ED has prepared a detailed questionnaire for the minister who will reportedly be grilled for his alleged links with some accused and alleged relations with three NRIs suspected to have been actively involved in the racket.
To avoid any untoward incident if Majithia’s supporters throng the office on the day he will be questioned, the ED may seek additional security cover from the Punjab Police.
Majithia was not available for comment. The man who answered the call on his personal mobile said he was busy in an important function. Majithia’s aide Kartar Singh said the minister was away to Delhi for personal work, whereas his media adviser Sarchand Singh said he had not had a word with the minister for three days. “I don’t know about any summoning. Nobody talked about it,” he said. Denying links with anyone suspected to be involved in the racket, Majithia has been asserting that as a minister for NRIs in the past, he was supposed to meet them.
