* Dhindsa and Grewal says Barnala real traitor of the panth who got an accord signed which was never implemented
Dhuri, April 8 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today advised senior Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh not to incite people on the sensitive issue of river waters by indulging in lies and hyperbole
Addressing a number of election rallies in village Balian, Kumbarwal, Dhandiwal, Qila Hakeema, Batuha, Natt, Hassanpur, Kanjhli, Kanjhla, Ladda and Nayak Basti in favour of SAD candidate Gobind Singh Longowal, the SAD president said Capt Amarinder should act in a responsive way and not try to vitiate the atmosphere in the State by speaking lies on the issue of river waters distribution. He said nothing untoward should be read in routine repairs adding “water being released to Haryana is a measurable commodity and we will not increase this share by a single drop”.
Urging Capt Amarinder Singh to address the concerns of the people of this constituency rather than raking up non issues, Mr Badal said everyone knew that the former CM had no interest in the election campaign of the Congress candidate. “Mr Amarinder Singh’s only interest has been to conduct a show of strength of the party MLAs to humiliate Pradesh Congress President Partap Bajwa. Interestingly all the MLAs aligned with Capt Amarinder only come to one of the functions addressed by the Congress leader and disperse back to their homes immediately afterwards”.
The SAD president also pointed out that it was condemnable that Capt Amarinder was supporting the candidature of the Barnala family when it was a recorded fact that it was Mr Surjit Singh Barnala who had got the Satluj Link Canal (SYL) excavated in Punjab territory.
Meanwhile in another development senior SAD leaders Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Maheshinder Singh Grewal made a strident attack on former Governor Surjit Singh Barnala. The leaders said Barnala was the real traitor of the panth as he worked out a deal with the Congress without taking the senior Akali leadership into confidence. They said even the late venerable Sant Harchand Singh Longowal had been misled by Barnala. “It is condemnable that you got an accord signed by the late Sant which was never implemented”, they said adding recent developments including Simarpreet Barnala’s candidature had proved that Barnala has always been a mole of the Congress. “How else can you explain the betrayal you have effected on the SAD which has given you everything you have achieved in public life”, they added.
Both Mr Dhindsa and Mr Grewal also urged the former Governor not to speak lies by claiming that he had recommended Mr Sukhbir Badal’s candidature for a Union ministry, “The fact of the matter is that this the prerogative of the party and its president. In fact even your candidature as a minister was recommended by Mr Badal”, they added.
