Chandigarh, April 18– The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh not to try to incite Punjabi farmers towards violence by spreading lies about an alleged food grain scam which never was.

Stating this, SAD general secretary Maheshinder Singh Grewal said Amarinder was hurling false accusations against the SAD-BJP government as he had got frustrated at the turn of events and was now resorting to slander as a last resource.

Categorically stating that not a single grain of food stock was missing as was being claimed by Amarinder, the SAD leader said all stock had been monitored and found in order by relevant agencies. He said the Rs 12,000 crore figure being tom tommed by Amarinder was an accountancy discrepancy as the State’s claim of Rs 30,000 crore had not been fully adjusted.

Telling Amarinder to better not try to spoil the on-going smooth procurement of wheat in Punjab through his provocative and wild statements, Grewal said if Amarinder wanted to vent his frustration at anyone it should be Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi who refused to name him as the party’s chief ministerial candidate and not the hard working farmers of Punjab.
