Chandigarh, August 14: Late Sh. Baljit Singh, SP of Punjab Police who attained martyrdom while thwarting the terrorist attack in Dinanagar recently has been awarded President’s Police medal for Gallantry posthumously on the occasion of Independence Day-2015. Besides this, Inspector Balbir Singh and Head Constable Tara Singh has also been President’s Police medal for Gallantry for showing exemplary courage during this attack while HC Gurlal Singh has been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry.Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of Punjab police said that two senior IPS officers namely Mr. Gaurav Yadav, IGP/Hqrs earlier IGP/CI and Mr. Ishwar Singh, IGP-cum-Director State Narcotic Control Bureau has been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.The spokesman further informed that 13 other police officers/official namely Mr. Charanjit Singh, SSP,Faridkot, Mr. Jasdeep Singh, SSP, Amritsar Rural, Mr. Jaswinder Singh , Inspector/LR, SHO, PS Balongi, SI Rajiv Kumar, SHO, PS Sohana, SI Baljit Singh, Incharge/CIA Staff, Barnala, SI Pran Nath, CID/Hqrs, Chandigarh, Punjab, ASI Bachittar Singh, Commandi Training Centre, Bahadurgarh, Patiala, ASI Pawan Kumar, Incharge Special Guard, Jalandhar, ASI Hans Raj, CID Unit, Punjab, Chandigarh, ASI Surjit Singh, SAS Nagar, ASI Ramandeep Singh, CID Unit, Amritsar, Punjab, ASI Sukhwinder Singh, PPA, Phiilaur, Punjab and ASI Karamjit Singh, PS Sadar, Sangrur have been awarded police medal for meritorious service.
