Diabetes is disease of bad lifestyle, says Civil Surgeon

Ferozepur November 14, 2022: Diabetes is a bad lifestyle disease and it can damage various organs of the body due to the carelessness used by the patient, said Dr.Rajinder Pal on the occasion of World Diabetes Day.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr.Pal said that every year on November 14, World Diabetes Day is celebrated in the world for awareness and prevention of diabetes. He said that diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases, due to which the glucose levels in the blood become higher than normal and it can affect any part of the body. He said that frequent urination, delayed healing of wounds, sudden weight loss, increased hunger and thirst, numbness of hands and feet are signs of diabetes and patients with such symptoms should preferably get their diabetes checked.

He said that the number of diabetic patients is increasing rapidly. The human body produces a substance called insulin, which uses the glucose produced from food and drink as energy, but sometimes insulin is produced less or not at all, due to which the amount of sugar in the blood starts to increase and this condition is called diabetes. There is no cure for it, only it can be controlled and if not controlled, it affects the eyes, kidneys, brain and other parts of the body badly.

Dr. Rajendra Pal said that the main cause of diabetes is wrong lifestyle because nowadays the use of fat or greasy items as food and drink has increased which are very harmful to health. Apart from this lack of physical activities also causes it.

Giving information about the possible causes of diabetes, he said that obesity, lack of exercise, not taking a balanced diet, stress in life, family etc. He further said that every person above the age of 30 should have a complete physical examination once a year, which is provided free of charge at government hospitals and exercise 35-40 minute daily, eat a balanced diet, lose weight, get enough sleep and adopt a stress-free lifestyle to avoid this disease.
