Sangrur, To seek opinion of its workers with regard to contesting the Dhuri Assembly byelection, the SAD (Longowal) organised a gathering of party workers at the residence of former Dhuri MLA Gaganjeet Singh Barnala at Dhuri today. The programme was presided over by party president Surjit Kaur Barnala, wife of former Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala.Baldev Singh Mann, secretary general, SAD (Longowal), said the party workers in one voice opined that the SAD (Longowal) in association with other like-minded parties should contest the Dhuri byelection to defeat the SAD-BJP alliance. He said Gaganjeet Singh Barnala would be the candidate of the SAD (Longowal). However, they would take other political parties in confidence in this regard, he added.Mann said the SAD (Longowal) would get cooperation from the Congress, the PPP and the Left parties to contest the Dhuri bypoll.Mann alleged that people were unhappy with the Badal Government and the Modi Government due to which they wanted to give a crushing defeat to the SAD-BJP alliance in the Dhuri Assembly bypoll. Those who were present included Surjit Kaur Barnala, Baldev Singh Mann, Gaganjeet Singh Barnala and former Parliamentary Secretary Surinder Singh Dhuri.
