Even as officiating DGP VK Bhawra has called a meeting of members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the Behbal Kalan and Kotkpaura police firing incidents, to discuss reports about differences of opinion related to the investigation, the key member, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, took to Twitter suggesting that he was fighting a lonely battle “but will continue walking alone to his destination even if no one is with him”.
IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap is reportedly at the centre of a controversy surrounding the SIT ever since a chargesheet naming five cops and a former Akali MLA and suggesting involvement of senior Akali leaders was presented in a Faridkot court. It is alleged that some of the SIT members have reportedly disassociated themselves from “certain points” of the chargesheet.
DGP Bhawra, who is officiating in the absence of DGP Dinkar Gupta (who is on a foreign tour) told The Tribune that he had called a routine meeting of the SIT to discuss the progress of the investigation. “It is a routine meeting,” he stressed, while declining to comment on the agenda.
Meanwhile, Kunwar Vijay Pratap, who was shifted out of the SIT by the Election Commission of India, posted a couplet, “Jekar teri pukar sunne na koye. Jekar tera sath deve na koye, Ikalla chalo, Ikalla chalo (one should keep walking alone if no one is listening to you and supporting you).” The IG could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
CM exposed: Harsimrat
Bathinda: Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Sunday said Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh should own the moral responsibility for politicising the police firing cases after the chargesheet filed by his “blue eyed officer” had been debunked by the other members of the SIT. She alleged that the CM had been exposed with the entire SIT team objecting to politicisation of the inquiry into the police actions and stating on record that the CM’s aide IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh had filed the chargesheet without even consulting them. The CM must take moral responsibility for it and resign forthwith,” she added.
