Desertion of Ramoowalia amounts to castigation of leadership of Badals : Manpreet

Chandigarh, October 31: People’s Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Badal today described the desertion of senior party leader Balwat Singh Ramoowalia from the Akali Dal to join Samajwadi Party and take oath as minister in Uttar Pradesh today morning was a strong indictment of the leadership of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal.

He said it was a strong signal of the resentment prevailing in the rank and file of the Akali Dal and the level was the same as had spilled out on the roads in the form of mass upsurge against the Badal government. He pointed out that Ramoowalia was brought back to the party fold with great fanfare and made Halqa Incharge of Mohali.

Referring to the level of anger among the people, he dared Sukhbir to move out anywhere in Punjab or any gurdwara within the country or abroad without his big security cover rather than enacting the drama of playing cards with the common people and moving around in Badal village, the name that he has defiled.

“Sukhbir is the only president in the history of the Akali Dal who cannot visit any country where the Sikhs are settled in large numbers and where the party earlier used to have its branches. While he tried to give the impression by releasing his pictures of playing cards with people in Badal village, he failed to participate in the function in the memory of once party stalwart Sant Fateh Singh. As party president, he needs to explain his absence from this important function not far from Badal village. Rather he should apologise for the same”, he added.

He stressed that the anniversary function in the memoray of Sant Fateh Singh was a state function from where both Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as well as the party president were conspicuous by their absence. This was proof enough that they were scared of going among the people as for the agitating people, security cover is no deterrent.

He asserted the situation in the state was heading towards anarchy due to deep-rooted corruption, non- governance and mafia raj as the people had now come out to confront the rulers. He said the headlines that Sukhbir managed by organizing his Progressive Punjab summit in Mohali under tight security cover have not again been replaced by the developments on the ground in the state.
