Bathinda, March 8
Mohinder Kaur, 73, of Bahadurgarh Jandian village in Bathinda, was on Monday honored in a function organised by the Delhi Commission for Women.
She was given a rousing welcome on a stage as she received an award from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
She was given a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a momento for her active participation in the ongoing farmers’ agitation.
Talking to ‘The Tribune’ over phone, Mohinder Kaur expressed her happiness over the honour she received from the Delhi Commission for Women.
Mohinder Kaur hit the headlines after Kangana Ranaut tweeted her picture claiming that she was the same “Dadi Bilkis Bano”, who was part of the Shaheen Bagh protest. Later, Mohinder Kaur has filed a complaint against the actress in a court in Bathinda.
Reacting to Kangana’s tweet, Mohinder had said “Kangana kaun hai, kyu mainu badnaam kar rahi hai, main ta kheti-badi kardi haan, main aap khet wich fasal katdi haan (who is Kangana, why is she defaming me… I do farming and harvest crops on my own).
“We have 12 acres of land. After my husband (Labh Singh) was diagnosed with asthma, I along with my family, including my son, his wife and his children take care of the fields. I visit the fields and do the farming. What Kangana has said is undignified,” she said.
