Mehta Chowk (Amritsar), October 27:  The Damdami Taksal today demanded immediate arrest of the real culprits involved in the case of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and the police officials responsible for firing on peaceful protesters leading to the death of two persons.

The Taksal organised bhog as part of the ‘Pashchatap Divas’ against continuing incidents of sacrilege at its Gurdwara Gurdarshan Parkash headquarters. Tributes were paid to Gurjit and Bhagwan Krishan Singh who were killed in police firing near Bargari.

Speaking on the occasion, Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa said the incidents of sacrilege by anti-Panthic forces could not be tolerated. At the same time, he counselled the Sikhs to observe restraint and appealed to religious and political organisations to join hands to confront such designs although it was the responsibility of the government to maintain peace. He cautioned people against rumours and said solution to this problem should be found without getting agitated.

Khalsa attacked the Punjab government for negligence in tracing culprits involved in Bargari sacrilege case. He alleged the government was being soft against those who had been arrested in such cases that could lead to raise apprehensions in future.

Demanding immediate arrest of the police officials responsible for firing killing two persons in Bargari, the Taksal chief demanded cancellation of what he termed as false cases against two brothers Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh of Panjgrain Kalan. He also urged the Sikhs to keep strict watch to maintain security of the shrines.

He appealed to the Sikhs against celebrating Diwali with fireworks.

According to Ajaib Singh Abhiasi, those present on the occasion included Jasbir Singh Rode, Sant Major Singh Vaan, Baba Lakha Singh Thamman, Baba Gurdip Singh Khujala, Baba Sukhwant Singh Chananke, Baba Ajit Singh Tarna Dal, Baba Gurbhej Singh Khujala, Baba Surinder Singh, Baba Balbir Singh, Baba Mohan Singh, Baba Balbir Singh and several other religious leaders.
